The Oncology Research at the Federal University of Pará was a cover story of the book Amazônia Viva, published in the newspaper O Liberal, in December 2015. The article covered the methods and studies carried out at UFPA to combat and treat cancer.

Researchers from the institution were interviewed, including the General Director of the Nucleus of Oncology Research, Professor Sidney Emanuel Batista dos Santos and doctoral student Williams Fernandes Araújo, who is also a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine of UFPA and Coordinator of the Assistance Unit of High Complexity in Oncology (UNACON) of the João de Barros Barreto University Hospital.

The poster of the work "Association of Polymorphisms of the KIR Complex with Chronic Hepatitis C Virus Infection and Therapeutic Response in a Population of the Brazilian Eastern Amazon" received awards and distinctions at the Opening Session of the XXI Brazilian Congress of Hepatology. The event took place in Bahia.
